Welcome to The Scottish Study Group for the Care of Diabetes in the Young

The Scottish Study Group for the Care of Diabetes in the Young was established in the early 1980’s to provide a forum for medical staff caring for young people diagnosed with diabetes. Paediatricians and Adult Physicians, from all over Scotland, met twice yearly to discuss developments involving provision of care to infants, children, adolescents and young adults with diabetes, and to plan clinical research that would better inform that care.

The Group meets twice yearly in central Scotland, in Spring and Autumn. National and international clinicians and researchers of renown are invited to present to the membership, over the course of a two day conference. The informal relationships established at this meeting are just as important as the formal, and cooperation and collaboration between adult physicians and paediatricians are fostered and developed, resulting in the creation of a unique clinical community.

Over the years, although the membership may have changed, the ethos remains unchanged: to provide a forum where ideas and best practice about caring for the young with diabetes can be shared and developed.

The Scottish Study Group wishes to acknowledge the generous support offered, over the last 40 years, by Novo Nordisk.
